How can I become a volunteer?

The page provides specific steps and requirements for each type of volunteer opportunity, ensuring you can find the best fit for your skills and interests. What types of donations do you accept?

We greatly appreciate your generosity! We accept several types of donations to support our cause:


We accept various types of donations, including passive giving. You can support Less Than The Least Ministries as your ministry of choice in the Kroger Rewards program. They can login to their Kroger account at Kroger.com, select My Account > Community Rewards, search for Less Than The Least Ministries or use our NPO number: GF254 to add LTTL as their charity of choice.


Monetary Donations: You can donate via check or money order by mail, or conveniently online using Google Pay or credit cards on our "Donate" page.

Hygiene Supplies: These can be ordered through our Walmart Spark registry.

Music Equipment: Instruments and other music equipment for prison churches.

Clothing: Pants and shirts for inmates being released from prison.

Yes, you can donate specific items like books, hygiene supplies. We do not accept medical necessities.

How do I get trained to become an approved volunteer for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ)?

Becoming an approved volunteer for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) involves a two-step process:

1. Complete and Submit an Application: Visit the TDCJ website https://tdcj.texas.gov/php/prod/volunteer_training to fill out and submit the volunteer application.

2. Complete the Online Training: On the same TDCJ page, take and complete the required online training.

The approval process typically takes 4-6 weeks to complete. In the meantime, be sure to visit our "Get Involved" page to let us know how and where you want to serve. That will help us gather the required information to get you plugged in. Once approved by TDCJ, we can request your approval for the specific prison unit where you wish to serve.
